Brienner Galerie Lodi was founded by Italian-born art dealer Silvano Lodi (1924-2020). He started his art dealing business in 1962 or 1963 when he opened his gallery located at Brienner Strasse 12, later at Wittelsbacherplatz 1 (since 1965) in Munich. The Brienner Strasse is situated at Köningsplatz which is Munich’s gallery and museum quarter. Lodi closed his gallery in Munich in 1970 and moved to Lugano (Switzerland). He eventually moved a few kilometers away to Campione D’Italia in Italy where he continued his art dealing activities.
Lodi acquired six paintings (from a series of twelve) looted from the Schloss collection in the postwar years: they came from the series dedicated to the twelve months by Abel Grimmer (Schloss German no. 68, 69, 70, 72, 73, 74).
