The _Préfet régional de la Haute-Vienne _(regional prefect of Haute-Vienna) is a civil servant representative responsible for administering the region. During the confiscation of the Schloss collection, the _Préfet _served as the representative of the Vichy government in the region and in such position took up the responsibility to inform the Vichy government of the collection's transfer to Banque de France on 24 April 1943. After an exchange with Darquier de Pellepoix of the CGQJ, the _Préfet _agreed to Lefranc working on the collection, albeit only with a judicial police commissar accompanying him to ensure the collection’s integrity and safety. By August 1943, the _Préfet _agreed to the transfer of the collection after receiving a phone call by Laval's secretary confirming the latter.
